Out of Paper Error Code HP Printer
At times a printer shows ‘Out of paper’ error message despite there being paper on the tray of the printer. There can be several reasons that cause this issue, however a user can try some of these options to rectify or troubleshoot the HP Printer Error Message.
Troubleshooting Steps HP Printer Error Out of Paper
Check the papers
If paper has absorbed moisture or are of low quality, the printer will have trouble picking up the papers. Low quality papers often get curled on the sides barring it from being lifted by the printer or getting fed into the machine. So check the paper conditions. A user can follow these methods to recheck the paper and solve the error.
- Take the entire paper stack out of the tray that is holding the unprinted paper.
- Make a new stack with only 25 sheets of paper, this is the optimum number for testing the printer and it’s tray and the lifting capacity of the printer.
- But before putting the stack on the tray, align the stack uniformly by tapping it against a flat and a hard surface. Only after it has been aligned properly put it back into the paper tray.
- Use the paper width guide after putting the stack of paper in the tray. Ensure that the guide is not restricting the stack; if the guide is binding the stack the problem will persist.
- Give the print command to see whether it is printing. If it is not, try printing one paper at a time, if still the problem persists, try using a different brand of paper.
- If the error still keeps appearing try the following method.
Cleaning the Pick Up rollers
Often dust, grime, even paper particles can gather on the paper pick up rollers, thereby stopping it from functioning properly. To solve the problem, try cleaning the rollers of the printer. The user can clean them by using the following steps.
- Before starting to clean the rollers, switch off the printer and then disconnect it from the power source.
- To find the pick up rollers, the access door of the machine needs to be opened. It should be at the front of the back of the machine.
- After opening it, find the rollers, it is generally aligned on a rod with multiple rubber rollers.
- Get a cloth, ensure it is lint free, and moisten with either with distilled water. Do not use alcohol as it might dry the rollers.
- Use the cloth and move the rollers from down to upward motion with moderate pressure to remove the dust and grime after moistening it up.
- After cleaning it close the door and reconnect it with the power source. Once that is done, switch the printer on.
- Once the printer is on and settled, give the print command to see if it is printing.
- If the problem persists, you can follow the next method.
Resetting the Printer
After trying the above two steps, the printer is still showing the error message of ‘Out of paper’ then try to reset the machine.
- Take the power cord off the printer without switching the printer off.
- Before reconnecting it back to the printer, wait for 30 seconds.
- Switch on the power button of the printer and try to print a document to check if the problem is resolved.
