Ink Cartridge Error Code HP Printer
HP printers are the best selling printers today, but it is not error free. Sometimes an inkjet printer will display ink cartridge error. When this happens, the printer blinks a light, and either of the following HP Printer Error Messages display on the screen:

Troubleshooting Steps HP Printer Error Ink Cartridge
This is a common error which can be easily resolved following simple methods discussed in this article.
Method 1- Inspect the ink cartridges
If an ink cartridge is not in full contact electrically with the printer, an ink cartridge error message is bound to appear:
- Turn on the power button of the printer
- Open the cover of the printer, and wait till the cartridge stands still
- Press lightly on the cartridge to release it
- Slide the cartridge out of its slot to remove it
- Re-insert the cartridge into the cartridge slot. The black ink cartridge goes in the right carriage slot and the tri-colour ink cartridge goes into the left cartridge slot.
- Close the cover of the printer cartridge slot
- Try to print a document again
If the matter is resolved you need not need further troubleshooting. If not then try the other methods
Method 2- Clean the ink cartridge
If the ink cartridge is dirty, the printer will display an ink cartridge error sign when you try to print.
1. Gather the following items to clean the cartridge
- Clean distilled or filtered water
- Clean cotton swabs
- Plain sheets of paper to rest the ink cartridge on while cleaning
2. Open the cover of the printer and wait till the cartridge is idle and silent
3. Disconnect the power cord from the printer
4. Remove the ink cartridge and place it on the piece of paper with the nozzle plate facing towards you
5. Dip the cotton swab in the clean distilled or filtered water and squeeze out the excess water from it
6. Clean the copper coloured contacts only on the cartridges.
7. Repeat the above steps for all the cartridges of the printer
8. Take another cotton swab `and soak it in distilled water. Squeeze out the excess water and clean the electrical contacts in the carriage where the cartridges are placed
9. Wait for 10 to 15 minutes for the cartridges and the electrical contacts to dry out completely.
10. Reinstall the ink cartridges back into the carriage and close the printer cover
11. Reconnect the power cord of the printer
12. Switch on the power button of the printer
13. Try to print a document to test if it is successful or not
If the above method does not resolve the issue then you need to consider the next step in the troubleshooting process
Method 3- Replace the ink cartridge
If cleaning the cartridge and resetting it did not help, then replacing the ink cartridges with a new one would be the next option.
1. Turn on the power button of your printer
2. Open the top cover of the printer
3. Wait until the carriage moves to the right and the printer is idle
4. Press down on the cartridge and slide it out of the cartridge
5. Remove the tri-colour cartridge on the left slot and replace the black ink cartridge on the right side of the printer
6. Remove the new ink cartridge from its packaging and pull out gently the pink tap which is the protective covering from the ink cartridge
7. Hold the ink cartridge copper strips facing downwards
8. Slide the ink cartridge in an upward angle into the carriage until it snaps in its place properly.
9. The tri- colour ink cartridge is installed in the left side and black ink cartridge is installed on the right side.
10. Close the top cover of the printer
11. Print a test document to see if the printer can now solve the issue
