Fix 1) using genuine cartridges

HP printers always recommend using the original cartridge for smooth working and also to avoid any issues that generally arise due to the cheap quality cartridge. Using the original cartridge will minimize the possibility of printing errors and also helps with the longevity of printers.

Fix 2) Restart HP printer

Simply restarting the PC can solve many problems that generally arise in printers.

1)      Tap the power button of the device for a few seconds till it gets turned off.

2)      Remove the power cable & USB cable

3)      Leave HP printer for 3 minutes

4)      Plug in the USB cable & power cable

5)      Plug-in power cable

6)      Now again, Tap the power button of the device for a few seconds till it gets turned “On”

Fix 4) Check the color cartridge

1.      Open the top cover of the printer and remove the color cartridge from HP 5540 printer.

2.      Make sure that you are using the genuine cartridge for your HP 5540 printer. If the correct cartridge edge is installed, make sure that you have removed the tape from the cartridge nozzle.

3.      Insert the cartridge carefully back in the carriage and close the latch.

4.      Close the printer door of your HP 5540 printer.

5.      Try printing a test page to ensure the proper working of the printer.

Fix 5) Check the print settings

1.      In the software that you are using to print, click the File menu of that software.

2.      Click Print, or you can use the “Windows + P” key.

3.       The Print dialog box opens.

4.      Ensure that the name of the HP printer is present in the printer list.

5.      Select your printer name.

6.      Click the Properties button near the printer list. The Properties dialog box opens.

7.      Check the options on the property tabs to ensure that the appropriate color options radio button option is selected. If there is a checkmark on Print in Grayscale, un-select the box form print in gray option, and then click OK.

8.      Try printing a sample paper to ensure proper working of the printer.

Fix 6) Reinstalling the drivers

1.      First open the start menu of your printer and then go to its control panel.

2.      From listed options, hit the “Add and Remove Programs” option.

3.      Find and click on HP printers in the “Installed Programs list”.

4.      Click on “Uninstalled” to remove the drivers.

5.      To REINSTALL Turn on the HP printer.

6.      Then open the browser and visit the official website of the printer. Hit the “HP Printer Driver Download” tab on the page.

7.      Provide HP printer model number to website
